La galerie ouverte en 1938 par Louis Carré poursuit toujours son activité à la même adresse : 10, avenue de Messine à Paris 8e. Après avoir exposé les grands créateurs de l’art moderne : Gris, Klee, Matisse, Calder, Léger, Robert Delaunay, Kupka et Picasso, Louis Carré a défendu les œuvres de Jean Bazaine, Maurice Estève, Charles Lapicque, Jacques Villon. À partir de 1978, sous la direction de Patrick Bongers, son petit-fils, Geer van Velde, Étienne Hajdu, Serge Poliakoff, Gaston Chaissac, Pol Bury, Olivier Debré rejoignent les artistes défendus par la galerie. En 1987, l’activité de la galerie prend une orientation plus actuelle en exposant Eduardo Arroyo, BP, Mark Brusse, Henri Cueco, Hervé Di Rosa, Erró, Jean-Jacques Lebel, Hervé Télémaque. En 2005, la galerie ouvre ses cimaises à des artistes vivant et travaillant à l’étranger comme Kcho, jeune artiste cubain installé à La Havane ou Thomas Huber, artiste suisse vivant et travaillant en Allemagne.

Located at the same address since Louis Carre founded his gallery in 1938, the Galerie Louis Carre is situated 10 avenue de Messine, Paris 8. Known for representing and exhibiting the Modern masters : Gris, Klee, Matisse, Calder, Leger, Robert Delaunay, Kupka and Picasso, Carre also showed the work of Jean Bazaine, Maurice Esteve, Charles Lapicque and Jacques Villon. Since 1978, the gallery has been operated by Patrick Bongers, grandson of the founder. The gallery has presented the work of Geer van Velde, Etienne Hajdu, Serge Poliakoff, Gaston Chaissac, Pol Bury and Olivier Debré who is now represented by the gallery. Since 1987, the gallery has focused on a more contemporary orientation, exhibiting the work of Eduardo Arroyo, BP, Mark Brusse, Henri Cueco, Hervé Di Rosa, Erró, Jean-Jacques Lebel, Hervé Télémaque. In 2005, the gallery broadened its scope and created exhibitions for artists living and working abroad. Kcho, a young Cuban artist, residing in Havana was given a solo exhibition as was Thomas Huber, a Swiss, living and working in Germany.
